Trading on the future
I was just reading an article about futures trading and it made me think about what a great investment a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation really is.
The idea of futures trading is that you’re buying some commodity that will actually come into the market in the future. So, for example, you can buy shares of next year’s corn crop or next quarter’s barrel of oil. It’s all a bit of smoke and mirrors–a gamble on the future price of those commodities.
When we donate to the CFF, we’re also investing in the future. Research supported by the CFF is all about giving futures to those who are battling cystic fibrosis now and those yet unborn who will face that battle. Instead of next year’s corn crop, we’re investing in future generations of people. A kid in first grade today, who benefits from advances in CF treatment becomes a strong healthy adult. That adult in turn makes a contribution to our world–becomes a cancer researcher, President or a parent. Writes a bestselling novel, wins a Nobel prize or teaches kindergarten.
Your donation today gives tens of thousands of people a better shot at a longer, healthier life. Now, that’s investing in the future.
